According to Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle United is hoping to beat Barcelona and Chelsea to one of their top transfer targets this summer. This year, the Magpies have grown into a powerful financial force, and they will be determined to use their newfound riches to compete with Europe's premier clubs.

This summer, Barcelona and Chelsea are interested in signing Sevilla defender Jules Kounde. The French centre-back has emerged as one of La Liga's most promising prospects, with a move to some of the greatest clubs in the top five leagues being discussed.

Kounde is currently one of Sevilla's finest players, and the Andalusian club will demand a large transfer fee. Chelsea are the frontrunners in the race to recruit the defender, but a resurgent Newcastle United side could overtake them.

Barcelona has showed interest in Jules Kounde's signing as well, but they must first resolve a number of financial concerns. The centre-back is one of European football's brightest prospects, with several years ahead of him as a world-class defender.

Newcastle United, Chelsea, and Barcelona are vying for Sevilla's Jules Kounde.

Newcastle United has established itself as a Premier League financial powerhouse, and they have already undergone their first squad overhaul. With Eddie Howe in charge, the club was able to sign Kieran Trippier and Bruno Guimaraes in the January transfer window and put their plans into action with remarkable success.

The Magpies are prepared to pay €90 million to Sevilla to activate Jules Kounde's release clause. Due to financial constraints, Barcelona will not be able to match this pricing and is therefore not a likely destination at this time. Newcastle United will not be able to offer Jules Kounde a spot in the UEFA Champions League, despite avoiding relegation handily this season. Chelsea, on the other hand, has maintained its top-four status throughout the years and has a well-established squad under Thomas Tuchel.

Barcelona are also looking for a long-term replacement for Gerard Pique, but will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to sign Jules Kounde. Over the last year, Sevilla has given Spain's top clubs a run for their money, and they are unwilling to sell their greatest asset to a direct rival. Chelsea has its own ownership concerns to deal with, but they are in desperate need of a quality centre-back this summer. Under Thomas Tuchel, the Blues have a three-man defence and will need to keep Newcastle United at bay in the race for Jules Kounde.
