Bernardo Silva has shown an interest in leaving Manchester City and joining FC Barcelona.

With Frenkie de Jong potentially leaving the Blaugrana this summer and joining City's rivals United on the red side of Manchester, Portugal international Silva is Xavi Hernandez's top midfield transfer target.

Silva has already spoken to his club, with whom he is in daily communication, about a possible exit, according to Mundo Deportivo on Friday.

The 27-year-old is under contract at the Etihad until 2025, but he would welcome a move away from England, where he has resided for the past six years after moving from Monaco via Benfica in 2017.

Silva's agent Jorge Mendes has informed Silva about Barca's interest in him, and they have granted City permission to negotiate a contract if Barca makes an offer.

There are no ill feelings between City and Silva at the moment, and the courteous manner in which Ferran Torres was permitted to depart the PremierPINC League champions for Barcelona at the turn of the year was part of a general transfer philosophy of not getting in the way of players if they want to leave.

Silva's asking price is identical to Barca's asking price for De Jong from United or any other interested party: €80 million set and up front, plus another €20 million in variables.

When United was told this price for De Jong, they began to squirm and now demand €80 million plus add-ons, threatening to sever all ties with the 25-year-old.

Nonetheless, given City's prior interest in De Jong, particularly when Barcelona purchased him from Ajax for €75 million in 2019 while also fending off opposition from PSG, a part-exchange deal seems plausible.

Regardless matter where the Netherlands playmaker ends up, a coup for Silva is only feasible if De Jong departs.

Another plus for the debt-ridden Catalans is that Silva now earns significantly less than De Jong at Camp Nou, freeing up funds for other potential signings such as Robert Lewandowski.

Winning any medal in football is the most hardest thing a player can do, especially the two most prestigious trophies, the Champions League and the World Cup.

The vast majority of great players have only won one of the two trophies, with some taking home the UEFA Champions League and others the FIFA World Cup.

Despite the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have yet to win the World Cup, they have won the Champions League many times.

On the other hand, Paul Pogba, Gianluigi Buffon, and Ronaldo Nazario have never won the Champions League.

A few football players have also won all of the main awards.

Pedro Rodriguez, a former Chelsea and Barcelona player, is the only player to have won the English Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
