Darwin Nunez has joined the ranks of Benfica's most costly exits, when Liverpool paid 75 million euros for his services.
Benfica has sold a number of great players in the past, with some of them fetching over 40 million euros.
Joao Felix, on the other hand, remains Benfica's most costly transfer in football history. Darwin Nunez scored almost 40 goals for his club this season despite failing to win the Portuguese League, and will now continue his career in Liverpool next season.
If Benfica had kept its best players, the lineup shown below would have been possible.
Benfica's Starting XI If They Hadn't Sold Anyone
Ederson Moraes is the goalkeeper.
Victor Lindelof, Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, and Grimaldo are the defenders.
Weigl, Renato Sanches, Guedes, and Bernardo Silva are among the midfielders.
Joao Felix and Darwin Nunez are the forwards
Manchester City presently has four of the players depicted on the illustration. The players in question are Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, and Ederson Moraes. All of these players has previously represented Manchester City in the Premier League.
Nunez, on the other hand, will be a part of Liverpool's FA Cup and League Cup winning team in the 2021/22 season. Victor Lindelof, who played fewer games for Manchester United this season under Ralf Rangnick, used to play for Benfica.
Nunez's success at Liverpool is not certain, owing to Joao Felix's failure to live up to expectations despite helping his side win the La Liga.
