It's no secret that Manchester United is in desperate need of a rebuild, a task that former Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag has taken on, and one that ex-United striker Teddy Sheringham believes would be difficult.

Sheringham, who played for United from 1997 to 2001, earlier claimed that he supported the selection of Mauricio Pochettino, the outgoing PSG manager, saying, "I don't know a much about Ten Hag, but he's got a tough job on his hands."

The position at Man United is massive, and I believe that at this point in time, United requires someone who knows and has expertise in the Premier League, which Ten Hag lacks.

He will not be familiar with all of his teammates.

"There's a potential United might remain in limbo until the World Cup break since he's learning the Premier League on the job." He'll talk to those who have previously held the position. I'm sure he's spoken with [Louis] van Gaal already, but it's a massive task."

Sheringham, on the other hand, appeared to defend the Dutchman, stating, "Clearly, he's a good manager." Manchester United have done their study and are hoping for the best for him, and I wish him all the best."

Ten Hag's decision to employ former England manager Steve McClaren as his deputy would also be discussed by Sheringham.

McClaren previously worked with Ten Hag at FC Twente, when he was Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant from 1999 to 2001.

"He'd talk about the Busby Babes and the luminaries that used to play for the club." These are strong forces that bind people together. United has a long history, something Steve is well aware of. And he'll make sure the players understand it as well, if they don't already." That is difficult for ten Hag to grasp right away. Steve will be of assistance to him because he has been a part of United's history."

He'd have seen Fergie's infamous 'hairdryer' treatment, and it's been suggested that the Ten Hag will want to emulate Sir Alex Ferguson's discipline at the club. "I think it would be very good for ten Hag to inculcate some discipline at the club," Sheringham said, "but I think that's very tough to do."
