According to football trade specialist Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has joined AC Milan in the fight to sign Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches.
PSG's newly-appointed athletic advisor Luis Campos, according to Romano, is working on a deal to sign the Lille star.
AC Milan have had personal terms agreed with the 24-year-old since January, according to the Italian transfer guru. The Rossoneri, on the other hand, have yet to reach an agreement with Lille.
Fabrizio Romano also alleged that Luis Campos is in direct communication with the Portuguese midfielder's entourage.
When he was Lille's sporting director in 2019, Luis Campos worked on a contract to bring Renato Sanches to the club.
The Portuguese international has thrived at Stade Pierre-Mauroy and was instrumental in the club's Ligue 1 championship in 2020-21.
Paris Saint-Germain, according to Romano, are awaiting the hiring of manager Christophe Galtier.
Galtier managed Sanches at Lille and could now work with him again at the Parc des Princes.
With their midfielders suffering last season, Paris Saint-Germain are clearly aiming to reinforce their midfield ahead of next season. Apart from Marco Verratti, none of the midfielders managed to impress on a weekly basis, while Get French Football News dubbed Georginio Wijnaldum the 'Flop Signing of the Year.
Despite Kylian Mbappe's pursuit, the Parisian club missed out on the signing of Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid.
PSG might benefit greatly from the arrival of Renato Sanches.
Renato Sanches would be a great addition to PSG's squad if the Ligue 1 winners can outbid AC Milan for his services.
Sanches is a technically adept, composed, and dynamic midfielder who covers every blade of grass.
Despite being only 24 years old, the former Bayern Munich midfielder has the potential to become one of the finest in his position in the next years.
Meanwhile, if AC Milan are beaten to the signing of their key midfield target, it will be a huge blow to the Serie A winners.
