The Member of Parliament for Adaklu has dismissed ideas that Ghana's development problems may be solved by leveraging cannabis exports.

Kwame Agbodza claimed that cannabis cannot create enough revenue to assist the West African country thrive since foreign exchange from gold and oil is insufficient.

"If gold and oil revenues aren't enough to fix the problems, is it the export of cannabis that will assist us?" he said.

He asked a throng of people assembled to celebrate the completion of a 3-unit school facility in Adaklu Anfoe, "Would you still allow yourself to be operated on if a surgeon told you he would consume pot before executing your session?"

Cannabis is a plant that comes from the Cannabis genus.  Cannabis is a plant that comes from the Cannabis genus. It's a psychoactive substance that may be taken recreationally as well as entheogenically.

Mr. Agbodza was concerned about how some individuals "who should know better" are dealing in the hard stuff and encouraging younger people to do so, putting their futures in jeopardy.

He pleaded with elders who produce and trade cannabis to stop doing so before the authorities caught up with them.

He praised Pencils of Promise for collaborating with his office, the assemblies, and the communities to build 18 educational buildings in the Adaklu District in under six years.

Freeman Gobah, the Country Director of Pencils of Promise, also expressed his worry about the widespread usage of cannabis among youth.

He said, "They are now introducing the young ones, some of whom should be around 9 years old."

As a result, he urged parents to pay close attention to their children's growth, particularly what they do and with whom they associate.

He believes that by doing so, their children will be less likely to be persuaded by their friends to smoke marijuana or engage in other illegal activities.
