Due to the La Liga lawsuit, the contracts of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe may be ripped up.
Upon the conclusion of his PSG contract this summer, Mbappe was destined to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
The France star later changed his mind and agreed to a massive new three-year contract at Parc des Princes, where he would earn €100 million annually.
La Liga is making serious efforts to bring PSG down because they believe the contract is "illegal" and violates Financial Fair Play regulations. La Liga is enraged that they were unable to secure the services of one of the best players in the world.According to MARCA, the Spanish government is trying to prevent the validity of Mbappe's contract and has engaged attorney Juan Branco to do so.
At a press conference regarding the impending case, Branco stated, "We are aiming for a new ruling like the Bosman [law], which liberalized the market [in 1995]."
"Now, what we want is market regulation and the expansion of the severe [financial] norms of the [Spanish] League throughout Europe."Branco, 32, is expected to request the cancellation of PSG player contracts that were signed after June 25, 2021, from French Minister of Sports Amelie Oudea-Castera. Messi, a seven-time winner of the Ballon d'Or, joined PSG on a free transfer on August 11 and signed a two-year contract there as well.
Branco has been asked to include Messi's contract after Barcelona was unable to register the Argentine's new term at the Nou Camp owing to a lack of funding.
Branco is certain that La Liga will prevail, and if they do not, he is even ready to file a complaint with the European Commission and perhaps the Court of Justice of the European Union.
