Kylian Mbappe has denied reports that he was on the verge of quitting France based on his Euro 2020 performances, claiming that it was intolerant insults that drove him away from Les Bleus.

According to Noel Le Graet, the head of the French Football Federation, Mbappe was enraged and wanted to play for his country again, according to Le Journal du Dimanche.

The 23-year-old failed to score in any of his four games last year, and France was eliminated in the last 16 by Switzerland.

After a 3-3 tie in extra time, Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe missed a crucial penalty kick, and the unstoppable champions were stunned to lose on disciplines.

Mbappe responded to Le Graet's comments on Twitter, writing: "To be sure, I made it plain to him that it was about bias more than discipline. Regardless, he admitted that there was no racism..."

As he struggled to have an impact on the resistance, Mbappe received a lot of attention as the young nobody of the France team.

Le Graet claimed in a Sunday newspaper interview: "I met with him after the Euros. He acknowledged the association had forgotten to watch him after his missed discipline and the investigation he received on the associations.

"In my office, we had a five-minute social gathering. He was enraged and stated that he did not want to play for the French gathering at this time, which he plainly did not mean.

"You know the situation: he's a champion, and when he was killed, he was furious, just like the rest of us. He's exceedingly accommodating to the journalists. He's a truly remarkable individual."

Mbappe has played nine further times for France since last year's disastrous Euro 2020 performance, assisting his team in acquiring all of the necessary qualities for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He has 27 goals in 57 senior games for his country.
