Kolarov played 247 times for Man City.
FORMER Aleksander Kolarov, a defender for Manchester City, has retired from sport after his contract with Inter Milan expired.
His 18-year career has come to an end for the 36-year-old.
In a statement to ANSA, the left-back announced his retirement and planned to study at Coverciano, the Italian Football Federation's home.
"I always knew this day would come sooner or later," he said, "and despite that, I am pleased to have been able to realize what has always been my ambition." "Right now, I'm preparing for my'second life' in the world of football." As a result, as soon as the notices are published, I will enroll in the Centro Tecnico Federale in Coverciano's qualifying courses, first as a scout and later as a sports director.
Kolarov's Inter career came to an end in December 2021.
Kolarov joined Man City for £16 million from Lazio in 2010 and played 247 times for the club in seven years.
He was instrumental in the club winning their first Premier League title and ending Manchester United's reign of terror.
He has a total of 21 goals and 37 assists, and he was recognized for his deft dead ball deliveries.
Kolarov joined Serie A side AS Roma a year after Pep Guardiola arrived at The Etihad, as part of Guardiola's full-back makeover.
Before joining Inter Milan, the Serbian spent three years in Rome.
Kolarov made 132 games for Roma before joining Inter, where he had a far less successful career.
In his two seasons with Inter Milan, he only made 15 appearances in all competitions, with four of those coming this season since he was far down the pecking order.
He was selected for the Serbian national team 94 times and scored 11 goals. In October 2020, he made his final appearance in the UEFA Nations League against Turkey.
