Chelsea is completing in on a £35 million contract for Manchester City's Raheem Sterling

Chelsea believe they have won the race to sign England star Raheem Sterling and are negotiating a £35 million deal with Manchester City.

After seven years at the Etihad, the former Liverpool man is ready to leave.

Sterling's current contract expires in 12 months, and while he has not submitted a transfer request, he has indicated to Pep Guardiola that he is open to a new challenge.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Chelsea are now confident of completing a £35 million deal for the London-born winger.

With Romelu Lukaku on his way back to Inter Milan, Thomas Tuchel has been given significant funds to invest in his frontline, and he believes Sterling can play a more central role at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling was a regular starter for City last season, but Guardiola was keen to keep him.

Chelsea are also interested in Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, but it is unclear whether a move for the Frenchman is unrelated to the Blues' interest in Sterling.

Sterling's arrival could be bad news for Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who could be sold.

Chelsea are said to be confident of landing Manchester City star Raheem Sterling for £35 million.

During the transfer window, the 27-year-old England winger has been linked with a move away from the Etihad, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Arsenal all mentioned as possible destinations. Chelsea, on the other hand, have emerged as serious contenders for Sterling's signature, with transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio reporting that the west Londoners are confident of completing a deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, another transfer expert, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is a "big fan" of Sterling, increasing the likelihood of him making a dramatic move to City's Premier League rivals.

Last October, the 27-year-old star hinted that he might leave the Etihad, saying he needed to play at a "certain level of football."

Sterling's first-team opportunities have become more limited in recent years, and he only started 28 of City's 50 Premier League and Champions League games last season.
