Erik ten Hag has taken over as manager of Manchester United's first team. This summer, the Dutch manager wants to construct a team that he likes.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is considering a second bid for a Barcelona midfielder. In other news, the Old Trafford club is in a bidding war with Borussia Dortmund for David Raum.

On that topic, here's a rundown of the most important Manchester United transfer stories as of June 19, 2022.

Manchester United is considering a second bid for Frenkie de Jong.

According to The Guardian, Manchester United intends to make an upgraded bid for Frenkie de Jong. The Red Devils are on the market for a new midfielder ahead of a vital season, and the Dutchman is on their radar.

Barcelona has previously turned down an initial offer for its prized possession.

Ten Hag is trying to strengthen his United midfield in order to return his squad to the top. The Dutchman is eager to reunite with his Old Trafford teammate. De Jong rose to prominence at Ajax under Ten Hag before moving to the Camp Nou in a high-profile move. Ten Hag is dissatisfied with the midfield alternatives available to him at United and is looking for a replacement. The Red Devils let Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, and Juan Mata leave this summer, leaving them with a depleted midfield. De Jong has been touted as a top priority signing to fill the team's gaping hole.

The Red Devils have already made their first offer of €60 million including bonuses. Barcelona, on the other hand, has rejected the offer and is demanding a fee of around €85 million. The Premier League giants feel the Blaugrana's demands will finally be reduced. United is now considering a new offer of €70 million with add-ons to assist them turn the tide.

Borussia Dortmund and the Red Devils are battling for David Raum.

According to Sky Germany through The Hard Tackle, Manchester United is battling Borussia Dortmund for David Raum's signature.

TSG Hoffenheim's German left-back has been on fire recently. Last season, Raum has 13 assists in the Bundesliga, which drew interest from clubs all around Europe.

The Red Devils are also keeping a close eye on his status.

Due to Luke Shaw's uneven record, the Premier League heavyweights are hoping to add more quality to their left-back position. They are interested in Raum, but Dortmund may be a strong contender for his signature. The German full-back is expected to cost €30 million, a sum that BvB may be unable to match without reducing their team.

Manchester United's Paul Robinson tells them to be pragmatic in the transfer market.

Manchester United should be realistic in the transfer market, according to former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson. Darwin Nunez recently disclosed that he turned down a bigger offer from Manchester United to join Liverpool.

Robinson told Football Insider that the Old Trafford club is no longer the biggest draw in the market.

"Manchester United is no longer the most popular team. They must be practical. The Champions League is a major deal for footballers at that level. Players aspire to be at the top of their game. "Man United can't offer that right now, and that's an issue," Robinson explained.

"They're in transition," he continued. Erik ten Hag has a tremendous overhaul ahead of him. He must persuade players to join and be a part of what he is creating. If you visit Liverpool, you will be visiting a team that is primed to win major trophies. United are a long way off at the moment.
