Timo Werner, a Chelsea forward, has disclosed that he turned down Liverpool to join the Blues a few years ago. Jurgen Klopp has been a fan of the German international twice in his career, but he has never gone on to play for the former Borussia Dortmund manager.

Werner eventually joined the Blues for about £48 million from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2020. The 26-year-old striker has no regrets about transferring to Stamford Bridge after winning the Champions League in his first season.

Timo Werner was quoted in the Mirror as saying the following:

"Of course, Liverpool was also on my mind and a strong contender for me, but in the end, I chose Chelsea, and I won the Champions League last year, so it wasn't the worst option!"

Timo Werner, on the other hand, has praised Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. Klopp's amazing success with the Reds was acknowledged by the German international. His popularity in his home nation stems from this, as well as his character. Werner had this to say about it:

"I believe I've known him for a long time because he mentioned going to Dortmund when I was in Stuttgart." In Germany, Jurgen Klopp is one of the best coaches we've ever had. Not to disparage our management, but he has won the most titles in the last year. He does, however, have a very pleasant personality. A personality that the Germans adore since he appears to be a lot of fun."

It's worth noting that Timo Werner's entrance did not go as planned for both the club and the player. This season, the attacker has only scored 11 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions. Werner has only three Premier League goals in his last ten games. Werner only scored 12 goals in 52 appearances for Chelsea last season. He did, however, contribute 15 assists throughout all tournaments.

This season, Chelsea will play Liverpool in yet another cup final.

The FA Cup final on Saturday, 14 May, will pit Chelsea and Liverpool against each other once more in a domestic cup summit confrontation. Both teams competed in the Carabao Cup final earlier this season, with the Reds winning on penalties.

Under Thomas Tuchel, the Blues are looking for their third trophy of the season. This season, Chelsea has already won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. This season, Liverpool, on the other hand, is aiming for a quadruple. They have a UEFA Champions League final versus Real Madrid on May 28 in Paris to look forward to.

The Reds are also in contention for the league crown, currently sitting in second place, three points behind league leaders Manchester City.
