Pep Guardiola sent a cheeky warning to Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde about Bernardo Silva.

Bernardo Silva will wear a Manchester City shirt when they play Barcelona in a friendly, according to Pep Guardiola.

Barcelona is after the City ace, and their President Joan Laporta teased City manager Pep Guardiola yesterday as the date for the August 24 meeting at the Nou Camp was confirmed.

"We will bring all of our top players to Barcelona," Guardiola added.
This summer, the Citizens playmaker has been linked with a move to the Nou Camp.

Laporta inquired, "Even Bernardo?"

"Bernardo Silva and ten more!" exclaims the crowd. Guardiola responded with a yes.
City are expected to seek £80 million for the key 27-year-old attacking midfielder, who has three years left on his contract, which might rule out cash-strapped Barcelona.

However, if Frenkie de Jong's £65 million sale to Manchester United goes through, they may be able to raise funds.

Bernardo, according to Xavi, is the ideal successor for De Jong.

When asked about Bernardo's future at City yesterday, Guardiola remained confident that the Portuguese international would remain with the Premier League champions.

"I believe Bernardo Silva will stay with us, at least for the time being," he remarked.

"We don't know what will happen in the transfer window, and we've always said that we want players who want to be at our club," he said. "But we appreciate Bernardo and expect him to be here next season."

Bernardo was on the verge of leaving City last summer, citing personal concerns as a result of the Covid limitations, which forced him to remain away from his family.

After more than 250 appearances and five seasons with City, the player is said to be just looking for a change.

The charity match between City and Guardiola's previous team, Barcelona, will be held at the Nou Camp to raise funds for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) awareness.
