Paris Saint-Germain are expected to select Christophe Galtier and use a new 3-5-2 system at the Parc des Princes, according to reports. The tactical shift may have a significant impact on superstars Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Sergio Ramos.
In the coming weeks, PSG are anticipated to fire current manager Mauricio Pochettino and replace him with either Galtier or former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
Galtier is the current frontrunner for the position, having worked with incoming football advisor Luis Campos at Lille. Campos, who has virtually taken over as PSG's director of football, has been tasked with assembling a team capable of winning the club's first Champions League.
PSG has dominated French football since it was purchased in 2011 by Qatar Sports Investments, a part of Qatar's state-run sovereign-wealth fund. Since then, they've won eight Ligue 1 championships, six French Cups, six French League Cups, and eight French Super Cups.
PSG, on the other hand, has yet to taste European triumph. They came closest to winning the Champions League in August 2020, when they lost 1-0 to Germany's Bayern Munich in the final, with ex-PSG star Kingsley Coman scoring the only goal.
Campos believes Galtier is the right man to lead PSG to their first European Cup, according to Foot Mercato. The Parisian club is thought to have agreed a €10 million (£8.6 million) compensation with Nice to release the 55-year-old from his current contract, which expires in June 2024.
Neymar and Lionel Messi may struggle to fit into PSG's new-look squad.

At PSG, Galtier is anticipated to use a 3-5-2 shape, with Ramos defending alongside Presnel Kimpembe and Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar. According to reports, the Ligue 1 champions will launch a €55 million (£47.3 million) bid for the club.
PSG is also rumored to be interested in Vitinha, Renato Sanches, and Gianluca Scamacca. They are said to have negotiated a deal with Porto for ex-Wolves midfielder Vitihna, while Sanches worked under Galtier at Lille and Scamacca is regarded as a backup for Kylian Mbappe.
PSG's alleged new approach will put Galtier in a tactical bind. After signing a new three-year contract, Mbappe will undoubtedly be part of the front two, but it's unclear whether Messi or Neymar will partner him... or if either of them fits that style.

Both superstars were at their best in Barcelona.
That assumes one of the three midfielders plays in an advanced position. It's uncertain if Galtier will start with a flat three in the center of the field or two holding midfielders and a No. 10. Messi and Neymar are both incapable of playing in center midfield.
Galtier has an impressive resume. He's won the French League Cup with Saint-Etienne, the Ligue 1 title with Lille (just ahead of PSG), and led Nice to the French Cup final last season, which they lost 1-0 to Nantes. He has also been named Ligue 1 Manager of the Year three times.
