Ryan Giggs has stepped down as Wales manager for good.
Since his arrest in November 2020, the former Manchester United midfielder has not been in charge of the national team.
Before qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, Robert Page took over and led the country to Euro 2020.
"After great contemplation, I am standing down from my post as manager of the Wales men's national team with immediate effect," Giggs said in a statement issued on Monday.
"It's been an honor and a joy to lead my nation, but it's only fair that the Wales FA, coaching staff, and players prepare for the tournament with confidence, clarity, and without speculation about their head coach's situation."
"I have pled not guilty to the criminal charges being tried at Manchester Crown Court, as has been widely reported."
"While I am faith in our legal system, I had anticipated that the case would be heard sooner so that I could continue my managing duties."
"The lawsuit has been postponed due to no one's negligence.
"I don't want the country's World Cup preparations to be harmed, destabilized, or jeopardized in any way by the ongoing investigation into this situation."
The FAW goes on to say: "The Football Association of Wales recognizes Ryan Giggs' personal statement from June 20, 2022.
"The FAW expresses its thanks to Ryan Giggs for his leadership of the Cymru Men's National Team and applauds his decision, which is in the best interests of Welsh football."
"The FAW and the Cymru Men's National Team are completely focused on the FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year."
Between August 2017 and November 2020, Giggs is accused of dominating and coercing his former girlfriend Kate Greville. He's also accused of attacking Ms Greville and causing her physical harm, as well as assaulting Emma Greville, her younger sister.
He has rejected the charges and has pled not guilty to all of them. In August, Giggs will stand trial at Manchester Crown Court.
