Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education, has warned all Ghanaians not to politicize the ongoing education transition.
He added that, while the transition is in the national interest and does not take into account recipients' political affiliations, ethnic orientations, religions, or other socioeconomic statuses, politicizing it would be detrimental to the country.
When the Board Chairman of Sogakope Senior High School, Mr Maxwell Amekpor, led the Board of the School to pay a courtesy call on him on Monday in Accra, Dr Adutwum issued the warning.
The purpose of the visit was to invite the Minister to the School's 60th anniversary celebrations, which will take place on November 26th, 2022 at Sogakope, Volta Region.
The Education Minister stated that if Ghanaians allowed the existing education transition to continue for a few years, the country would undoubtedly progress since the necessary transformation measures were being implemented to leapfrog the country's economy.
Dr. Adutwum advises against playing politics with the ongoing education transition.
He referenced the drive for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education as an example. Dr. Adutwum stated that if everyone supports STEM, it would rapidly transform the nation's education and, eventually, the economy to better the standard of life of ordinary Ghanaians.
Dr. Adutwum urged all Ghanaians to embrace STEM education as the "magic wand" that may help the country's economy recover.
The Education Minister promised to fund all school infrastructure upgrades in order to improve effective teaching and learning.
Mr. Maxwell Amekpor, the School's Board Chairman, praised the Education Minister for the advancements he has made to the country's education sector.
He urged the government to consider updating the school's infrastructure in order to meet the school's growing enrollment.
Newman Dzesedzoave, Headmaster, Cephas Sokpah, Assistant Headmaster, Mama Azivui III, Queen mother of Teffe traditional region and board member, and Maxwell Lukutor, Old Student's President, were among the delegation's other members.
