1. Jack Grealish to Manchester City - The transfer of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa to Manchester City last season is widely regarded as the most expensive mistake in Premier League history.

Manchester City paid €118 million to sign the English professional footballer who had no impact on Pep Guardiola's club last season.

2. Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea - The transfer of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan to Chelsea last season moved him to the second spot on the list. Chelsea traded Tammy Abraham last season to cover Lukaku's €113 million transfer cost, and they now regret purchasing the Belgian player, who is on his way out on loan this summer.

3. Paul Pogba to Manchester United - When Manchester United signed Paul Pogba from Juventus for a fee in the region of €105 million, he became the most expensive player in the world.

Pogba, who was regarded as one of the finest midfielders in the world at the time, failed to make an impression at Manchester United and left on a free transfer this summer.

Southampton has sold a large number of world-class players in recent years.

True, Southampton have become a feeder club for England's traditional top-dogs, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Southampton has sold Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, and Rickie Lambert to the Merseyside club alone in the last decade.

Of course, while this may be upsetting for some supporters, it is also a crucial source of revenue and an integral aspect of how Southampton's company is conducted.

The transfers of Van Dijk and Mane to Anfield generated over £100 million in transfer fees and a profit of roughly three-quarters of that amount.

The £72 million they made from those trades, combined with huge earnings from selling players like Gareth Bale and Luke Shaw, has helped the club maintain its top-flight status for the past ten seasons.

And the fan base is likely to accept that this is how the club will continue to function in order to maximize their potential.

But it's still crazy to think of what Southampton may have become if players didn't move about so much in today's game.
