Boakye Agyarko, a former Energy Minister, claims he is qualified to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the general elections in 2024.

Despite the fact that he claims many people have previously objected to this goal, he is unfazed and would go to any extent to guarantee it is realised.

He claims that he is completely focused on his objective and that nothing will persuade him to forsake it.

Mr. Agyarko stated in an interview on Asempa FM's Ekosiisen on Monday, June 20 that he will not accept any offer to stand down.

"I'm pursuing my own presidential aspiration, which has been met with a lot of opposition from the start. I shall not forsake it to pursue other interests.  That is my focus: I am focused on what I need to accomplish for myself and my country.

"You go on if you serve with all your might and the individual doesn't appreciate it." I will not do something if I am unable to give it my all. "Am I not deserving of becoming the NPP's flagbearer?" he inquired.

I am deserving of the position of NPP flagbearer - Boakye Agyarko

The NPP is gearing up to choose its presidential candidate for the general elections in 2024.

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and the Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen, are seen to be the two front-runners.

Mr. Agyarko believes he will win the primaries.

Meanwhile, he demanded that the administration acknowledge that the economy is in bad shape.

"The economy is not doing well. That is the first brave acknowledgment we must make. We also need to make strategies that ask for a common sacrifice. Let's all feel the anguish together. We're in a scenario where we've played a lot and are now in serious trouble. We need to prepare the country for the challenges ahead.

"We must take our responsibilities as citizens and our public financial management seriously." Nobody will come to our aid from anyplace. We must accept that we are living above our means; we must either reduce or increase our efforts.
