To make ends meet, the majority of the students stated they had to turn to all kinds of menial and unsafe employment at the price of their education.
Mr Djaba said that some of the students were shut out of the school's online system for both lectures and homework because they had not paid their school fees, while also facing deportation.
He said he had been appealing with school authorities, particularly in Germany, France, Norway, the Netherlands, and Poland, to get the government to deliver cash as quickly as possible, but that their patience looked to be wearing thin.
He stated that the costs for the event should have been paid by January of this year. To be eligible to get residence permits, students must be enrolled in classes and earn stipends at the same time.
"I've had multiple concern calls from students, some of whom were in tears as they described their hardship in the impacted nations, particularly those whose tuition is financed by the Ghanaian government," Mr Djaba added.
a call for help
Mr Asante said the government has not supplied anything for students on Ghana government scholarships from January to June 2022, in what he called a "urgent SOS appeal to the government."
He stated that, while the scholarship recipients did not pay school fees like others in Germany and elsewhere, they relied completely on the stipend from Ghana to buy school supplies, eat themselves, and so on.
Mr Asante mentioned the example of Budapest, where some students were unable to find housing because the 40,000 zloty (about GH800) they got from the Polish government to cover rent was insufficient.
He said that such Ghanaian students used a portion of their stipends to supplement their income in order to pay their rent.
"Some students have been evicted from their housing since their stipend has not arrived in the previous six months." We are unable to study with peace of mind, and there are indicators that Ghanaian kids' academic performance may decrease," Mr Asante stated.
When contacted, Kingsley Agyemang, the Registrar of the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat, confirmed that the students' tuition fees and stipends had been paid.
