Ex-Kotoko forward Abdul Shafiu Fatawu blames poor officiating for mass player exodus
Former Asante Kotoko forward Abdul Shafiu Fatawu believes poor officiating has contributed to the massive departure of players from the Ghanaian top-flight.
The mass exodus of players in the domestic top-flight league has affected the standard of the Ghana Premier League and also the performance of Ghanaian teams in Africa.
A chunk of Ghanaians has attributed the rampant departure of players from the local scene to poor salary but the enterprising forward thinks otherwise.
According to him, poor officiating in the Ghana Premier League is a major factor for the mass player exodus in the country.
“Let’s put monetary issues aside, the officiating is not good because when you travel to play an away game sometimes you think that you will lose and when you play home you have to win, I don’t know why it happens that way but then, that is what we have so we just have to manage it like that” he told Angel TV.
“In South Africa, I will not say officiating is good but is much better than here” he said.
The enterprising Trelleborg striker currently plies his trade in South Africa.
