Despite rumours that Zidane had turned down the capital club, the executive claimed that no attempt had ever been made to bring him to Paris.
Despite claims that Zinedine Zidane had rejected an approach to take over at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has denied ever wanted him to manage the club.
Al-Khelaifi claimed he never spoke with Zidane, either formally or informally, about returning to coaching when he departed Real Madrid at the end of the 2020-21 season.
PSG is set to fire Mauricio Pochettino soon, with Nice coach Christophe Galtier being the front-runner to take his place.
What did Al-Khelaifi have to say about Zinedine Zidane?
Negotiations between Zidane and PSG had reached an advanced point, according to GOAL and many other outlets earlier this month, only to collapse days later.
Al-Khelaifi, on the other hand, insists that Zidane was never in his plans.
"I'll tell you one thing: neither directly nor indirectly, we never spoke with him," the club president told Le Parisien.
"Many clubs, as well as national teams, are interested in him, but we have never addressed it with him. We've chosen a coach who will be the ideal fit for what we're trying to accomplish."
Galtier's interest is confirmed by Al-Khelaifi.
After winning Ligue 1 with Lille the year before, Galtier led Nice to a fifth-place finish this season.
"It's not a secret that we're talking to Nice," Al-Khelaifi remarked. "I hope we can reach a deal fast, but I respect Nice and President [Jean-Pierre] Rivere; everyone has their own interests to protect."
Where else might Zidane end up?
With PSG no longer an option, Zidane is rumored to be considering a bid for the France national team after the 2022 World Cup.
Didier Deschamps, the current manager, has not stated his plans for after the tournament, and if he does, Zidane will most certainly be considered as a replacement.
"Yes. I still have a lot, or at least something, to give "This week, Zidane spoke about his desire to teach. "I want to keep going down this road.
