The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, made a formal visit to Consolidated Bank Ghana Ltd (CBG) at its main office in Accra to cement the partnership between CBG and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for future collaborations.

"CBG is a 100 percent government-owned bank that was founded in 2018," stated Daniel Wilson Addo, CBG's Managing Director, during the meeting. We have risen to play a significant role in Ghana's economy in just four years, focusing our efforts on the growth of enterprises, notably SMEs and corporates."

"With 114 branches, we are Ghana's second largest bank in terms of branch dispersion." CBG is particularly focused on a digital agenda, and our primary aim for the coming year is to come.

Over the next three years, we'll be constructing a robust digital foundation architecture on top of our existing branch networks. We are a good corporate citizen, and we have cooperated with security services such as the Police Service throughout the years, but not with the Ghana Armed Forces as much. As a result, we are looking forward to strengthening our ties with the Ghana Armed Forces," Mr Addo said in a statement released in Accra yesterday.

Maj. Gen. Oppong-Peprah, for one, stressed the need of collaboration between the GAF and the CBG.  "The world is changing, and global security is critical for every nation's development and progress at this time."

As a result, we've moved on from traditional security to dealing with cyber security, terrorism, fraud, system hacking, and other issues.

"As a consequence of monitoring events in our neighbouring nations, we've realised that these actions are developing and expanding, and we've updated our security techniques as a result." Human security is one of the methods that will help organisations provide adequate assistance to mitigate the impact of these risks on society.

"It's critical that we collaborate because one of the main areas where we've realised we need to help more is the banking industry." Collaboration in terms of exchanging ideas and providing traditional security such as escort responsibilities for bullion vans and others is critical."
