Marina Granovskaia, Chelsea's transfer chief, has announced her resignation as a director of the club.
Granovskaia has effectively led Chelsea for Roman Abramovich for nearly a decade, but she will step down as part of a significant reshuffle at Stamford Bridge.
The 47-year-old is the latest high-profile departure after Chelsea revealed on Monday that Bruce Buck, its chairman for the past 19 years, is stepping down.
Granovskaia was expected to quit Chelsea after Abramovich put the club up for sale, but it was initially thought she would stay until the conclusion of the transfer window during the Todd Boehly takeover.
The Russian-Canadian businessman has been with Chelsea since 2010 and is often regarded as the club's second most important figure after Abramovich.
Since 2013, Granovskaia has been in charge of transactions and player contracts. Boehly and manager Thomas Tuchel will now enter into transfer talks.
Granovskaia was crowned the greatest club director in European football at the Golden Boy awards last year, highlighting her importance to the team.
Tuchel's loss of expertise, experience, influence, and contacts comes as the club enters a key summer transfer window.
Chelsea will have a difficult summer and will be playing catch-up in the transfer market as they want to rebuild their team in order to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool next season.
