SERPENTS ARE WISE BECAUSE OF THEIR ABILITY TO LIVE AND WORK WITH OTHERS
Snakes are usually alone but can be found hibernating together in a communal spot. Over one hundred rattle snakes can be found together in a hole during winter. Sometimes in the mating season female snakes emit a pheromone that attract male 3,500 poisonous cobras and this can also lead to a gathering of snakes in one area.
Amazingly, the same animal that is usually found alone can function with a large team of other snakes. To be wise as a serpent you must be able to function with a team. You must be able to delegate and you must be able to work with many other people. Some people are only able to work alone. That is not the wisdom of a serpent. You must be able to work alone but also be able to live and work with other people.
A snake charmer in Bangladesh once found 3,500 poisonous cobras and their eggs hidden underneath the floors of two suburban homes. Imagine that! 3,500 cobras flourishing under the boards of your living room!
Why is it important to live and work with others? Why is teamwork important? There are certain achievements that can only be done with a team. Solo efforts will not work! There was a time in ministry where I worked alone. Sometimes I worked with a couple of other people. But as I expanded and grew, I was forced to accept that I would work with a large team of people. Some achievements are simply impossible without a large team.
