Pius Enam Hadzide, CEO of the National Youth Authority (NYA), has advised young people to benefit from the government's YouStart entrepreneurship development programme so they may start their own enterprises.

He said that by doing that, individuals may grow personally and contribute to the creation of jobs.

At a stakeholders' interaction conducted in Accra yesterday[June 21, 2022], Mr. Hadzide made the request to offer some views on the YouStart initiative.

The YouStart, he claimed, had been created to be a game-changer that would succeed, despite the fact that previous job initiatives could have been deemed failed.

He claimed that was as a result of the government and stakeholders reviewing prior programmes to put together the appropriate packages.

Recommendation

Therefore, Mr. Hadzide advised the young to take advantage of the effort, claiming that doing so would allow them to create jobs and grow their potential to contribute to the growth of the country.

All young people should take advantage of this opportunity to grow and become job providers rather than job seekers in order to contribute to the economy, he urged.

He claimed that the initiative would place a strong emphasis on educating young people with sound business concepts in order for them to form successful business ethics as well as positive character traits like patriotism for the benefit of the country.

By providing crucial inputs like machinery to help them survive, Mr. Hadzide said, the initiative will employ innovative strategies to close the funding gap for young entrepreneurs.

Aim

By generating at least one million employment over the course of three years, YouStart Coordinator Andy Amedson, who was speaking on behalf of Deputy Minister of Finance Dr. John Kumah, said the programme aimed to lessen the economy's excessive reliance on foreign inflows and foreign direct investments.

The one-district, one-factory programme, NaBCo, the Youth Employment Agency, and other government-instituted economic programmes will all be coordinated under the YouStart initiative, he said.

Potential

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), noted that while young unemployment was a problem, it could also be a significant opportunity for growth if properly utilised.
