The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Okoe-Boye on Monday, July 20th, 2022 extended his countrywide trip to the Eastern Region.

His team's two-day visit aimed to get acquainted with the problems, possibilities and difficulties accessible to workers of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) (NHIS).

On the first day, he went to the Suhum district NHIS office, the Regional Coordinating Council, and the Regional NHIA office.

Dr. Okoe-Boye visited with staff members at the Regional and District offices and promised them that their overall wellbeing will be improved.

"We're devoted to working hard to make sure you're satisfied as efficiency increases. The regions will have the freedom to thrive, and I implore you to link the results to hasten the accomplishment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

"We are prepared to listen to you on the ground. To guarantee district offices' ownership of the NHIS, field operations will be improved."

He underlined the necessity for staff to step up public awareness campaigns in order to restore public trust in the NHIS.

"Inform the public on the quality of the NHIS. Improve the efficacy and relevance of NHIS."

The NHIA accredited healthcare providers that charge extra money (copayments) for treatments covered by the NHIS were denounced by the Chief Executive, who also pledged that they would soon become extinct.

"The biggest difficulty we have is copayments and we have to take a close look at it. At order to tighten down on copayments, desks will be set up in healthcare facilities."

"Staff have no excuse than to support the new Chief Executive. We can accomplish this together. In order for us to succeed as a team, I need your support."
