Anthony Hay· EPL Staff Editor June 21, 2022 at 2:30 PM EDT Chelsea reach agreement in principle with Inter Milan over Romelu Lukaku loan Chelsea have reached an agreement in principle with Inter Milan that will see striker Romelu Lukaku rejoin the Italian club on a season-long loan, The Athletic understands. Inter will pay a fee of €8 million plus add-ons, while terms over the 29-year-old’s salary and performance bonuses have also been accepted. Lukaku is expected to undergo a medical next week before completing his move back to the side he helped win the Serie A title with in the 2020-21 season. Click here to read the full story. Newcastle said in a statement: “Newcastle United can confirm that goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has completed a permanent move to Championship side Preston North End for an undisclosed fee. “Everyone at Newcastle United wishes Freddie the best of luck for the future.” Read our story here. Anthony Hay· EPL Staff Editor June 21, 2022 at 1:05 PM EDT Armel Bella-Kotchap completes transfer to Southampton Southampton have confirmed the signing of Armel Bella-Kotchap from Bochum. The Athletic reported earlier on Tuesday that the Premier League club had agreed a fee of around €10 million for the 20-year-old Germany youth international. It is understood Southampton overcame competition from other Premier League and Bundesliga sides to secure the highly-rated defender, who made 22 Bundesliga appearances last season. They are willing to offer the 29-year-old — who spent last season on loan at Millwall — a two-year deal, but the fee that Stoke would demand is not yet clear. Afobe, who has one year left on his deal, has more than one offer on the table — including from an unnamed team abroad — and a decision on his future is expected to be made imminently. Personal terms are yet to be agreed but are key to negotiations that are ongoing. Afobe is understood to be open to working with Watford head coach Rob Edwards again after their experiences together at Wolves. Meanwhile, Watford have agreed a deal to sign Ivorian striker Vakhoun Bayo from Charleroi and are targeting one more striker. They also retain an interest in Aston Villa's Cameron Archer. The goalkeeper is now set to undergo a medical at the north east club. It is hoped that Newcastle's deal to sign Pope will be completed by the end of the week. Pope, 30, has established himself as first-choice at Burnley during his six-year stint at Turf Moor. The 30-year-old joins the Europa League winners from PSV Eindhoven on a three-year deal. He told Frankfurt's official website: “The club has a great foundation. From the stadium to the fans to the city, everything simply suits me. I'm really looking forward to my return to the Bundesliga.
