The president of Rwanda Paul Kagame has been trending since last night over a comment he made about his fellow African leaders. Paul Kagame chastised his African counterparts for wasting resources in their own countries instead of asking for money.
According to him, most of the resources in the world today are found in Africa hence there is no need for the leaders to go about begging for loans rather they can demand money from these loan givers in exchange for the resources.
Speaking on African countries’ borrowing habits, he stated that there is something wrong with the thinking of those in charge of Africa’s problems.
According to Rwanda’s President, if resource owners go about asking for money, it proves that something is wrong with their thinking.
“If the owners of natural resources go around begging, then you should know there’s something wrong with their minds”.
These claims by him have got people sharing their opinion on social media, most people attacked him and called him names such as arrogant, too known, and proud. Others also acknowledge his words of wisdom and sided with him.
I think what he is saying is true and needs to be told. Although saying the truth may attract hatred at times but his utterances were right. If most of the resources are found in Africa, why don't we demand money in exchange for the raw resources rather than allowing them to take them to refine and then sell them back to us at their rates?
If that happens there is still something wrong and it needs to be corrected. Many may find his utterances as being arrogant but that is the gospel truth and honesty Africa needs.
