Liverpool stars are "sad" after Sadio Mane's lengthy text message as the Bayern Munich transfer is completed.

The Liverpool winger was finally announced as a Bayern Munich player, but before he left for the Allianz Arena, he sent a lengthy text message to his former teammates to say goodbye.

Sadio Mane said his former Liverpool teammates were "sad" after he sent a lengthy text message saying goodbye.

The Senegalese has been confirmed to leave Anfield this summer for German giants Bayern Munich. The £35 million transfer ends the forward's six-year spell on Merseyside, which began with a move from Premier League rivals Southampton in 2016.

Mane has emerged as a crucial and popular first-team member during that time. He scored 120 goals in 269 appearances for Liverpool, helping the club win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and much more under Jurgen Klopp's tutelage.

His electric chemistry with fellow forwards Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino also helped him win over the Kop faithful.

Ahead of his move to the Allianz Arena, Mane revealed that he wrote a heartfelt farewell to his former Liverpool teammates, noting that they were disappointed that he had left the club.

When asked by Liverpool's official website if he had the chance to say goodbye to Klopp and his teammates, he replied, "Yeah, sure." When both clubs agreed to the transfer, I sent a lengthy text to say goodbye to everyone, as is customary.

While the current Liverpool players will no doubt be disappointed to see the former Red Bull Salzburg winger leave, Mane did not hide his admiration for the current Liverpool squad as well as manager Jurgen Klopp.

"Yeah, sure," he continued, "I think we had a really, really, really good relationship since day one [when] I spoke with him [Klopp] to join Liverpool FC, and [he is] a great manager."

"He has heart, and as I mentioned earlier, he has dedicated himself, which is what makes him so special." Of course, he contributed significantly to my development as a player, as did the coaching staff and all of the players. And, as I've always said, I've never stopped working hard."

Mane's departure will almost certainly end Liverpool's major summer business, with Takumi Minamo also on the verge of joining Monaco. As the pair depart Anfield, the Reds have already secured the services of his replacement, Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, a potential club record signing.

Meanwhile, Fulham and Aberdeen youngsters Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay have joined the club. Some players may still leave the club, but they will mostly be youngsters looking for loan opportunities away from Anfield.
