A two-day orientation for its newly hired workers was given by the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service.

At the Headquarters in East Legon, Accra, the exercise was conducted.

To improve the perception of TVET delivery in Ghana, the 170 instructional and non-instructional recruits underwent thought-provoking sessions on the TVET Service Regulatory Framework, Soft Skills and Protocol, Attitudinal Change, ALeader Without Title, Quality Assurance, Human Resource Issues, and Roles and Responsibilities that are Expected of Staff.

The Director General of Ghana TVET Service, Mrs. Mawusi Nudekor Awity, instructed the new hires to demonstrate a high degree of decorum in the workplace and among stakeholders in her opening comments.

She warned the workers to "never take work in a casual manner, know how to communicate, relate to your peers and superiors, use telephone etiquette, be cordial with each other and be ambassadors of TVET Service worthy of emulation."

According to the Director General, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, the President of Ghana, is intent on making the TVET Sector the catalyst for progress in Ghana's socio-economic development.

This was her way of telling the personnel to start working at their various institutions and departments with His Excellency the President's goal in mind.

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO IN GHANA

The Pre-Tertiary Education ACT 2020, ACT 1049 created the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service as a corporate organisation to administer, supervise, and carry out authorised national policies and programmes pertaining to Pre-Tertiary Technical and Vocational Education and Training.

ASSISTANT GENERAL DIRECTOR

Mr. David Prah, Deputy Director General, led the attendees through the Service's establishment, objectives, functions, past accomplishments, and future directions.

He said that the Ghana TVET Service, which is under the Ministry of Education, was created in order to coordinate the numerous Agencies and Departments that were under nine Ministries and were offering Technical and Vocational Education and Training under one roof.

In this regard, the Deputy Director General remarked that "Government, the Ministry, and Management will offer all the essential resources needed for the effective running of the TVET Service and that we expect you, our personnel, to give off your best."
