CORONAVIRUS RESERVES: GH?1,550 MILLION UTILIZED FOR HELP TO FAMILIES - FINANCE MINISTER

Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, the money serve, says the aggregate sum of COVID-19 assets modified for the drives under the help to families in 2020 was GH¢1,718 million, out of which the sum used was GH¢1,550 million.

He made the exposure on Wednesday on the floor of Parliament, when he introduced his articulation to the House, named "Proclamation to Parliament on the COVID-19 Expenditure 2020/2021".

Mr Ofori-Atta said an aggregate sum of GH¢12.1million was used for the dissemination of the stuffed hot food in Accra, Tema, Kasoa and Greater Kumasi.

He noticed that it remembered the expense of transportation of pressed nourishment for certain rural areas of Greater Kumasi by the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).

He said the use for the arrangement of hot feasts during the lockdown served around 2,744,723 people for the time of the lockdown was at a unit cost of GH¢4.32.

He said an aggregate sum of GH¢42.24 million was consumed in the circulation of dry food bundles through religious associations in Greater Accra and Kumasi; adding that a sum of around 470,000 people got the food bundles.

"As a component of the help to families, Government through the Ministry of Water and Sanitation and its organization, Ghana Water Company Limited gave free water, which at first went on for the period April to September 2020."

 

The Minister said following a leader order, it was stretched out to December 2020 for life saver purchasers.

He said the dissemination was additionally completed by the Community Water and Sanitation Agency and other little holder water supply associations (NGOs).

Mr Ofori-Atta said a measure of GH¢556 million was planned in 2020 for this program out of which GH¢456 million was used.

He said in 2021, an all-out portion of GH¢200 million was made for the arrangement of free water and power for life saver shoppers, out of which GH¢143 million was used.

"Government likewise made arrangement in the Budget with the expectation of complimentary power to life saver buyers and retained 50% of all power bills for all private and business clients," he expressed.

The Minister said an all-out cost of GH¢1,039 million was used for the strategy from April to September 2020.
