CHELSEA may be looking for a striker this summer.
Chelsea have been persuaded to drop their interest in Everton forward Richarlison in favor of signing Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski this summer. The Polish striker has made it known that he wants to leave the German giant and transfer to Barcelona, but as the Spanish club struggles to gather the necessary finances, Chelsea might step in and make a deal for a prospective Romelu Lukaku successor.
The Belgian striker is nearing a loan return to Inter Milan, and Ally McCoist believes that the Blues should target Lewandowski rather than Richarlison, who has been linked with Chelsea. "I think he's a good player," the former Rangers player told talkSPORT. "But I'm not convinced he'll bring you the goals to get Chelsea back to compete for the crown with Liverpool and [Manchester] City." To be honest, I'm not convinced he'll get you the goals. Whereas someone like [Erling] Haaland is almost certain to score 20 league goals.
"I'd take [Lewandowski] all day." Goalscorer with proven track record. I believe Haaland will go on to score goals in the same vein as Lewandowski.
Chelsea has being pushed to bypass Richarlison in favor of Robert Lewandowski.
"He is clearly a lot younger, but if you look at someone like Lewandowski, he still has a couple of seasons remaining as a top striker.
As Lukaku prepares to return to Inter Milan on loan, there may be a vacancy in Chelsea's front line, and a number of players have been associated with the club, including Richarlison, Lewandowski, and Raheem Sterling. All three could leave this summer, and the Brazil international has stated he has discussed his future with Everton boss Frank Lampard.
Ally McCoist has advised Chelsea to bypass Richarlison in favor of Robert Lewandowski.
"I have already informed the board, and I have spoken with Lampard and my people," Richarlison told Brazilian media. "They understand what I want. Let us wait till June.
Right now, I can't speak because when I talk about leaving a club, I have this reaction because of my history with Everton and the fans' fondness for me. I'm at a loss for words when it comes to leaving.
While Lewandowski has been open about his future plans outside of Bayern Munich. In Munich, the 33-year-old has already stated that his "story is ended" and that "something died inside me." The Polish captain is thought to favor a move to Barcelona, but despite being in talks to sell midfielder Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United and freeing up cash by selling a share of their merchandising arm and potential broadcast money, Xavi's side's financial troubles have been well documented.
