Mordecai Quarshie, the chief executive of the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly (LEKMA), has warned squatters whose constructions were recently razed at the Manet Junction on the Spintex Road not to build new ones.

He declared that perpetrators will be brought up for prosecution.

He said that the warning was a part of the assembly's attempts to guarantee that the exercise was not in vain by having the municipality implement its byelaws.

About a month prior, the assembly conducted a demolition operation to remove containers and other unlawful buildings from the Manet Junction region.

According to Mr. Quarshie, who spoke to the Daily Graphic, the assembly had established surveillance systems and would not hesitate to bring legal action against anyone seen building new structures there.

The assembly also engaged the populace and informed them of the need to leave the region, he added, in addition to placing eviction markers on the buildings. He claimed that squatters were given sufficient time to depart the area.

The exercise was essential to make room for some road development that was planned for the area, he claimed, and the inhabitants had been there without permission.

He said that it will link Nmai Dzor with the Spintex Road.

I wish to issue a stern caution to anyone considering returning to the scene, informing them that the assembly would invariably bring charges against them.
