Christopher Nkunku, a Manchester United and Chelsea target, has signed a two-year contract extension with RB Leipzig.
Nkunku had a fantastic 2021/22 season, scoring 35 goals and assisted on 19 others in 50 matches across all competitions.
He helped his team reach the Europa League semi-finals and win the DfB Pokal after a penalty shootout victory over SC Freiburg.
Unsurprisingly, after such a strong campaign, there has been a lot of interest in the French attacker.
Manchester United and Chelsea have both been extensively linked with a move for him, but he has now signed a new contract with Leipzig, meaning he will likely spend the entire season with the German club next season.
His prior contract was slated to end in 2024, while his new contract will last until 2026.
"I'm delighted to continue wearing the RB Leipzig shirt," Nkunku said on the club's official website. After our tremendous success in winning the DFB-Pokal, it was evident that my narrative here isn't over — we want more!
"I was really impressed with the club's efforts to keep me, therefore a major thank you goes to those who put their trust in me, especially Oliver Mintzlaff, with whom I was always in close communication.
In recent years, RB Leipzig have built a name for themselves on the world scene, demonstrating time and again that we can fight for titles. We want to build on that in the future and go even further.
If the 24-year-old were to leave this summer, it was reported that Leipzig would demand close to £100 million for him.
His new deal apparently has a release clause of roughly €60 million (£51 million) that will take effect in 2023, implying that a transfer this time next year is highly likely.

Manchester United are reportedly planning to increase their bid for Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong after their initial offer was turned down.
De Jong joined the Blaugrana from Ajax three years ago for about £65 million.
While not a dud, the Dutch playmaker hasn't exactly set the world on fire during his time at the Nou Camp. As a result, the La Liga giants are willing to let him go for a large money this summer.
Barcelona are desperate for finances and to reduce their pay bill in the midst of their severe financial condition, and they consider De Jong as the ideal outgoing move to enable them sign objectives of their own in the transfer window.
Manchester United is quite interested, considering the appointment of Erik ten Hag, who supervised De Jong at Ajax.
According to the Manchester Evening News, they have previously made a proposal for the 25-year-old, and when it was rejected by Barcelona, they are now preparing to submit an upgraded offer 'immediately.
Xavi's team wants at least £65 million for the player to avoid a loss, although United's starting bid is thought to be £51.64 million including add-ons.
Despite rumours in Spain to the contrary, Barcelona has 'privately agreed' that they would not receive €100 million for De Jong.
