A week-long tour of 18 significant road projects in the Volta Region by a four-person team from the Ghana Road Fund Management Board has come to a conclusion.
The inspection visit included more than 146.2 kilometres of roads in the districts of Ho, Hohoe, Ketu North, Ketu South, Kpetoe, and Adaklu.
The team was led by board member John Ashford Afful, who also oversaw traffic management efforts on the 10.5 km dual Sokode Gbogame-Ho Civic Center Road, Phase III of the dual Ho Bypass-Etoe-UHAS-Titrinu Road, and the five km upgrade of UHAS internal roads.
The board members also examined the upgrade of the Abuadi-Waya (5-kilometer) and access roads to the Adaklu District's administrative centre, Waya.
The tour also included the surfacing of the Ho Barracks-Hodzoga-Tokokoe Road project (20,1 kilometres), the upgrading of the Juapong-Adidome Road (53 kilometres), the re-gravelling of the Frankadua-Adidome Road Lot 2, the re-gravelling of the Frankadua-Adidome Road Lot 3, the upgrading of the Mafi-Adapedo Wute/Yorkutikpo Kpoviad
Construction is underway on the Agbnenoxoe-Dafor Bridge.
The crew visited the locations of the project to enhance 5.2 kilometres of chosen roads in the Ketu South Municipality as well as the work being done to upgrade 4.5 kilometres of roads in the Ketu North Municipality.
The delegation also went to the Hohoe Municipality, where several arterial and collector roads were still receiving asphalt overlays.
After the trip, Mr. Afful informed newsmen in Ho that work on the 175-meter span steel bridge across the Agbenoxoe-Dafor Feeder Road is proceeding briskly.
Although the roads in the Volta Region were not in the finest condition, he claimed that the progress made so far on the different road projects offered reason for optimism.
The 8.3-kilometer Wli Todzi Junction- Wli Todzi -Fodome Ahor-Gbledi roads, the Metsrikasa-Havedzi Road Lot 2, and spot improvement works at Kpetoe -Obemla- Agohome and, Beh-Agbesi-Adakpakope were also mentioned by Mr. Afful as projects that need to be upgraded.
