FIFA 23: Juventus finally make a return to the franchise 

FIFA 23 is fast approaching, with some big news coming out that Juventus are finally set to make a return to the game. EA originally lost the rights to Juventus back in 2020, when Konami struck a deal with the Italian giants for exclusivity rights for PES 2020. It meant that FIFA 20 was the first title in 25 years that didn’t feature Juventus’ stadium or name in the game. Konami also partnered with Bayern Munich and Manchester United in the same year, but thankfully for FIFA’s case – these two sides were not totally exclusive to PES, which meant they were eligible to feature in the game. But now it’s been reported that Konami won’t be renewing their partnership with Juventus, meaning they are now eligible to feature in the FIFA franchise once again. More on the story below. Juventus have been operating under the name Piemonte Calcio since FIFA 20 thanks to an exclusive agreement between themselves and Konami – but now the licensing contracts have come to an end, meaning they can now feature on FIFA games under their real name once again. Alongside this – they can now also use their official badge, stadium and kits; which is a huge bonus. Konami’s contract with the Serie A has also come to an end. However, they still do hold the licensing to many other Italian clubs. Napoli, Lazio, Roma and Atalanta will remain exclusively available in eFootball. This means that their current names will remain and will not change until their respected contracts with the Japanese company come to an end. Although this isn’t the biggest issue in the world, it does take away from the overall FIFA experience and can make things difficult on FIFA Ultimate Team to identify which clubs are which – although most hardcore FIFA players probably know the side’s alter-egos by now. Although it’s a shame that FIFA still doesn’t have the rights to all of the Italian sides, it’s really good to see a club the size of Juventus back to their original form come FIFA 23.
