Man Utd and Chelsea are keeping an eye on Michael Edwards, a former Liverpool transfer expert.
Michael Edwards, a former Liverpool transfer guru, is apparently attracting interest from MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea.
This summer, both Premier League clubs plan to overhaul their hiring processes.
Additionally, the Daily Mail reports that Edwards, an ex-Liverpool player, is a target for interest from both United and Chelsea.
There is a lot of interest because of Edwards' prior success at Anfield with recruits.
He was the driving force behind the acquisitions of players like Andy Robertson, Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Alisson.
His acquisitions aided Liverpool in winning their first league crown in 30 years and advancing to three consecutive Champions League finals.
As director of performance and analysis, Edwards moved from Tottenham Hotspur in 2011.
He quickly advanced through the ranks, becoming the technical director and director of technical performance before beginning his present position as sporting director in 2016.
Last August, Edwards informed Liverpool that he will not be extending his contract after the current campaign.
After ten years at Anfield, he claimed it was time for a change.
He stated: "I had always planned to cap my time at the club to a maximum of 10 years" in an open letter to Liverpool supporters. Although I have cherished my time here, I am a strong proponent of change. In a professional situation, I believe it's advantageous for both the employee and the company.
His most effective acquisitions while at the club include:
* In 2017, Roma paid Mo Salah £39 million.
*Virgil van Dijk, who cost Southampton £75 million in 2017
* Andy Robertson, Hull, £8 million in 2017
* In 2018, Alisson cost Roma £65 million.
* Fabinho, who cost Monaco £44 million in 2018
After leaving Liverpool, Edwards apparently has little interest in making a quick comeback to football.
It remains to be seen if Edwards, who joined Liverpool in 2011, would be willing to collaborate with bitter rivals of his previous team.
Marina Granovskaia, the leaving long-time director in charge of the team's transfer negotiations, is being sought after by Chelsea.
While the club weighs its options, new owner Todd Boehly will fill the position of interim sporting director.
Andrea Berta, the man responsible for Atletico Madrid's success under manager Diego Simeone, has also been linked to Chelsea.
Paul Mitchell, the director of transfers for Monaco, has also become a front-runner.
