Bernard Oduro Takyi, a regional coordinator for Caye-West Africa and a youth activist, claims that Ken Ofori-Atta, the finance minister, has not been removed because he oversees the properties owned by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Despite his appalling record in the position, he claims that Ofori-Atta is the only finance minister in the 4th Republic of Ghana who has not been sacked or reshuffled after the first term.
In an interview with XYZ that updates.gh watched, Oduro Takyi said that former finance ministers who ran the nation's finances far better than Ofori-Atta had been ousted for reasons less serious than the current state of affairs. Kwesi Botchway, Kwame Peprah, Osafo-Maafo, Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Kwame Anim Adu, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, Seth Terkper, and Ken Ofori-Atta were the five finance ministers we had throughout the fourth republic. The fourth republic is the only one where a finance minister has never served more than one term.
And each of these finance ministers was replaced for a specific reason. A dispute over a loan deal (Macmillan project) led to Osarfo-dismissal. Marfo's The NDC brought charges against Duffuor, who probably ran Ghana's strongest economy. What has altered under Ken Ofori-Atta, the finance minister who has borrowed the most money of any?
"Ken Ofori Atta is in charge of looking after Akufo-personal Addo's assets." Why would Akufo-Addo alter Ofori-Atta while his company is in charge of managing his assets? What makes Ofori-Atta so exceptional is that he is not entirely healthy. All the best finance ministers we have ever had served one term.
He added that Ken Ofori Atta is the co-president of Ghana because of his immense influence, which allows him to deny other ministers access to the money they require to carry out their programs.
