The England plug, 30, should secure a move this mid year to remain in the Premier League to assist his assumptions for making Gareth Southgate's World Cup with manning.

Pope made an imprint on the world last year in transforming into the main goalkeeper to keep clean sheets in a long time starting six games for the Three Lions.

The eight-cap worldwide was one of Burnley's hero performers despite their drop down to the Championship, getting nine clean sheets in 36 five star appearances.

Pope is the Magpies' second stamping of the mid year, following the presence of Matt Targett earlier in the window.
