Nketiah gets new contract with Arsenal.
Nketiah tells doubters that he will succeed.
Eddie Nketiah, who was born in Ghana, has remarked on the status of his well publicized nationality move from England to Ghana.
In an interview with the Telegraph, he claimed that discussions on a possible move had taken place but that no decisions had been made.
"Discussions have taken place, but nothing has been determined," he is reported as saying.
The news comes just a month after it was reported that he had obtained his Ghanaian passport in order to switch nations and play for the Black Stars.
"Eddie Nketiah is close to switching his international allegiance to Ghana after being given a Ghanaian passport," Football London's top Arsenal correspondent, Chris Wheatley, posted on Facebook.
Eddie Nketiah is one of the players the Ghana Football Association hopes to have in the Black Stars roster for the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
Despite having played for England's junior teams, Nketiah has been overlooked at the senior level and has yet to play for the Three Lions.
In a May 2021 interview, he claimed that he was willing to play for either Ghana or England.
"I am open to playing for both Ghana and, of course, England." I've played for the [England] youth team, so when I was younger, they naturally called me out to play for them.
"Obviously, as a Ghanaian, I'm delighted that they've qualified for the World Cup." "I know players like Thomas and Amartey, and I'm thrilled for them," he said.
After a huge percentage of the original Black Stars squad went missing before of the four-nation event, the young skilled Ghanaian defender was invited to compete in the Kirin Cup.
In a recent Trendsingh-monitored interview, Alidu Seidu was asked to recount his story about how he earned a call-up from Coach Otto Addo at a time when finding a spot on the squad had become extremely difficult.
According to Alidu Seidu, he first saw his name in the final 27-man team for the competition and was also given advance information of their departure a few days before.
However, he had reservations about his selection for the team until he moved to their camp and hotel, only to encounter Coach Otto Addo, who personally confirmed him that he was indeed a member of the team.
He reiterated that he was completely satisfied after seeing Dede Ayew, Jordan Ayew, and other Black Stars players during the camp ready to travel to Japan for the recently concluded Kirin Cup tournament.
