To choose new regional and national executives for the Association, more than 800 members of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) will vote today.
The election will be held on June 24 at all specified voting places throughout the 16 administrative areas of the nation, and results are anticipated on the same day.
This occurs after several months of legal disputes that delayed the election campaign.
According to a statement released by GJA, "The finalisation of the election date follows the satisfactory settlement of the petitions brought before the GJA Elections Adjudication Committee."
The week following the elections, GJA will introduce the elected officials to the Association's members. "On Thursday, June 30, 2022, the national and regional executives will be sworn in."
Three people are vying for the job of president: Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, the current GJA National Organising Secretary, Dave Agbenu, a former GJA General Secretary, and journalist Gayheart Mensah. The incumbent, Linda Asante Agyei, is the only candidate for the position of vice president; Audrey Dekalu is the only candidate for the position of treasurer.
Kofi Yeboah, the current General Secretary, is being challenged by Akwasi Agyeman of Adom FM.
Dominic Hlordzi and Mary Mensah are duking it out for the title of national organising secretary.
Caesar Abagali and Rebecca Ekpe are vying for the role of public affairs officer.
