Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former finance minister, claims that the "Ahotor Project" was designed to enhance and protect the NDC's finances.

The project's goal is to provide financial stability to the party's grassroots so they can manage their activities effectively.

Dr. Duffuor reaffirmed the necessity of a well-resourced party while speaking to the opposition party's leadership and throngs of supporters at their headquarters in Accra on Thursday.

"The Ahot initiative is a demonstration of the effectiveness of stakeholder involvement, and the credit for it belongs to the party's rank and file. You have been the party's stalwart over all of these years, fulfilling the demands of a large number of citizens.

Dr. Duffuor listed the multiple financial obligations that come with being a constituency executive, including "late-night calls about a member being taken to the hospital, days when you fight to pool cash for party mobilisation, and the numerous financial burdens which come with your leadership."

"Our local structures must be financially and logistically resourced for the next war in order to empower the grassroots and drive the NPP out of power," he concluded. The Ahotor Project aims to do this.

The Ahotor Project is the first of several initiatives that the NDC's grassroots would launch.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the NDC's general secretary, promoted the Ahot business project, a Dr. Kwabena Acheampong-led private venture, in his remarks at the event on Thursday.

The NDC Headquarters in Adabraka, Accra, had a party event on Thursday to formally approve and inaugurate the Ahot Project. The General Secretary, commonly known as General Mosquito, spoke at the event.

He said that given that Dr. Kwabena Duffuor was the Finance Minister who successfully revived Ghana's economy, he was not surprised that he was the one to launch the historic NDC Ahot initiative.

"Since our party was founded, this endeavour is the first of its sort. In order to arrange the project effectively in line with the party's values, rules, and regulations, we have been corresponding with the donor and wish to work with Dr. Duffuor. This is what led to the project's formal endorsement taking longer than expected.
