According to Nana Yaw Amponsah, CEO of Asante Kotoko, the team's preseason in Dubai the previous year helped the group win the Ghana Premier League this year.

Prior to the commencement of the 2021/22 football season, the Kumasi-based club traveled to Dubai for a preseason trip.

The club was able to play a number of friendly games while on the trip, which served to mold the team.

In an interview with Asempa FM today, Nana Yaw Amponsah claims that the preseason played outside of Ghana helped the team win the championship.

"The clubs we played were solid sides, and we had a wonderful preseason in Dubai." We benefited in advance of the season. People questioned our choice, but it was profitable, "the CEO of Asante Kotoko noted."

Nana Yaw Amponsah continues that nothing has been determined yet despite the possibility of another preseason overseas.

In other news.

Nana Yaw Amponsah: Maxwell Konadu pushed for me to lead Kotoko.

According to Amponsah, Konadu pushed for Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah to take over the club.

Amponsah won the Ghana Premier League for the team this season after being hired in 2020 on a three-year contract.

The former Ghana FA Presidential candidate fired Maxwell Konadu as the team's head coach during his first season with the club due to his underwhelming performance.

Nana Yaw Amponsah cited his emphasis on getting results as the reason the club broke ties with the former Black Stars assistant coach.

I'm a results-driven individual, and firing him does not indicate that we have a problem. He was among those who pushed for me to be chosen as CEO of Asante Kotoko. He advocated on my behalf to be the CEO.

He did a good job, but eventually we felt we had to let him go. I do not despise him. "He is a nice guy, but I want results," he stated.

The 2021/22 domestic top-flight season saw the two-time African Champions win their 25th league championship overall.

Next year, Ghana will compete in the CAF Champions League with the Porcupine Warriors.

In the Ghana FA's champions of champions, Asante Kotoko will take on the winner of the MTN FA Cup final.
