The three remaining positions that Real Madrid must address
Real Madrid are undeniably a strong team, having won LaLiga and the Champions League. Los Blancos became even stronger in the transfer market, signing two of the best available players in Chelsea center back Antonio Rudiger and Monaco center midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
However, there are always ways to improve. Let's take a look at three areas of the squad that Florentino Perez will want to address before the summer is over.
Striker replacement
Carlo Ancelotti appears to have identified this as the main need, as there is no one the manager trusts behind Karim Benzema. With the World Cup coming up this winter, Benzema will be tested once more, and Real must have a legitimate option behind him with a well-rounded skill set and goals. They won't be able to find anyone on Benzema's level, but they do need someone who fits better than Luka Jovic and is more credible than Mariano Diaz.
Juanmi Latasa is an option, but putting so much pressure on a young player from Castilla would be unjust. If you are thrust into the action, this is not an easy role. Borja Mayoral is a risk-free option, but the loanee may lack the quality Carlo seeks.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, could sign someone if they can finalize Luka Jovic's loan to Fiorentina and finally get rid of him.
In fact, the Nkunku extension benefits Madrid because the agreement was made to make a 2023 transfer easier. Nkunku wants a new challenge, but he is too important to Leipzig, as evidenced by his top-four finish and first-ever trophy, the DFB Pokal, this season.
He can now leave in 2023 for 60 million euros, which means that if Real Madrid wants him, they have a chance.
Wirtz and winger Moussa Diaby are two Leverkusen players who could pique Real Madrid's interest. They are aware of how talented these two young stars are and will drive a hard bargain for both. Wirtz, even with an ACL tear, could cost a lot of money.
As a result, Real are expected to prioritize Jude Bellingham and Nkunku. They won't be cheap, but they might be less expensive than Wirtz, whose transfer fee has typically been reported to be around 100 million euros.
