Hakim Ziyech requests Chelsea exit as Serie A giants plot transfer agreement
Chelsea attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech has become a target for AC Milan again and is open to the move, according to reports. Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax in 2020, but has struggled for consistency in the Premier League. A talented player on his day, he has been unable to replicate the kind of numbers he achieved in Amsterdam. Therefore, Chelsea could cut their losses and sell him in a summer of change this year. He had been linked with a reunion with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, but that has been played down. Instead, the Morocco international looks more likely to leave the Premier League entirely if he departs Chelsea. In that regard, links with AC Milan are emerging once more. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Serie A champions have put Ziyech back on their radar. They are hoping to find an agreement with him after discovering he has asked Chelsea to leave. It could hinge on his salary, which he may have to lower compared to his Chelsea earnings. But he is said to be willing to negotiate – and talks are underway with his entourage. Milan could consequently take him on loan for the season with an option to buy. It would be a similar formula to the one that landed them Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea back in 2021. Ziyech could also unite with another former Chelsea player, Olivier Giroud, if he was to join Milan. The attacking midfield position is one of the few areas of a title-winning squad that Milan feel the need to strengthen. Ziyech could act as competition as a number 10 or on the wing. His chances of performing in either role for Chelsea, though, are in doubt due to their own desire to make signings in the final third. Raheem Sterling is a target from Manchester City, according to some reports. Hakim Ziyech loan to AC Milan almost complete says reports Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech is reportedly close to joining AC Milan on loan for £5m Therefore, Ziyech – who started just 14 Premier League matches last season – is looking for a way out. By joining Milan, he would still have Champions League football on offer. It would also represent a first taste of Serie A, a league in which he has been admired for years. There may have to be some sacrifices, but it seems to be an exit route that could appeal to the Dutch-born ace.
