NEW According to astonishing claims, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly spoke with Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes last week in Portugal. 

The future of the Manchester United star is far from certain because he has been linked to a transfer outside of Old Trafford.

Lukaku is expected to go on loan, thus Chelsea will be looking for a striker.

This summer, Ronaldo is rumored to be leaving Old Trafford.

Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions last season, but he couldn't help United place in the top four. 

The Red Devils were forced to make do with a sixth place finish and the Europa League. 

Additionally, when Boehly met with agent Mendes in Portugal last week, it was reportedly discussed whether Ronaldo would stay at United or move to Chelsea. 

The two-year contract that the 37-year-old Portugal international signed when he returned to Man Utd last summer has 12 months left on it.

Romelu Lukaku, the club's record signing, is expected to return to Inter Milan on loan this summer, leaving Chelsea in need of a forward. 

According to the article, it is "unclear at this point if Chelsea will want to pursue the opportunity" to sign Ronaldo. 

Another potential buyer is thought to be Bayern Munich. 

Jose Mourinho's Roma team is rumored to be keeping tabs on Ronaldo's position at United.

United, however, intends to keep the illustrious striker as things stand.
