Because the Ballon D'Or is regarded as the most coveted individual award in football history, many great players strive to win it at least once in their careers.

In this article, we will look at five excellent players from the twenty-first century who did not win the Ballon D'Or.

Henry, Thierry

Many consider Thierry Henry to be one of the greatest players in Premier League history, thanks to his performances for Arsenal in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The Frenchman was instrumental in Arsenal's unbroken Premier League title in 2003/04. Despite his brilliance, Thierry Henry only finished third in the Ballon D'Or race.

Xavi Hernandez is one of the most decorated players in football history. From 2008 to 2012, he was a talismanic figure for Barcelona and the Spanish national team, which dominated club and international football.

Iniesta, Andreas

Andreas Iniesta, like his partner Xavi, was a key player for Barcelona and the Spanish national team as they won every title the world of football had to offer between 2008 and 2012.

Iniesta is an offensive midfielder who excels at dribbling and creating chances. His goal against the Netherlands in 2010 helped Spain win the FIFA World Cup.

Andreas Iniesta only managed third and second place positions for the Ballon D'Or award despite his accomplishments.

Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery

The pair were widely regarded as the finest wing tandem of all time. Both players were unstoppable for Bayern Munich throughout their prime years. The pair were known for their dribbling, playmaking, and goal scoring ability, and they helped Bayern Munich win several domestic and European crowns.

In 2014, Franck Ribery came the closest to winning the Ballon D'Or, finishing third behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
