According to transfer insider Dean Jones, Chelsea is one of the few clubs Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling could actually join this summer.

The Blues are said to be optimistic about signing the 27-year-old, and Jones sees them as the only viable option in England.

What is the most recent Sterling news?

According to the Manchester Evening News, Sterling's future could be decided before City's pre-season tour begins.

The England international's contract expires in a year and he has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea.

In fact, multiple outlets, including Sky Sports, have reported that Chelsea is confident of completing a deal this summer.

If Sterling decides to join Chelsea, City are expected to demand a fee of around £60 million from their Premier League rivals.

What has Jones said to Chelsea about Sterling?

Jones believes Chelsea have a good chance of signing Sterling because a move there would allow him to return to London.

"He's from London, so straight away you start looking at London clubs," the journalist told GIVEMESPORT. He's not going to Manchester United, and Liverpool is also out, so Tottenham and Chelsea appear to be the only options.

"If I'm completely honest, I don't see Tottenham at all, so Chelsea are one of the few clubs where Raheem Sterling could actually end up."

Sterling could join another Premier League club.

As Jones mentioned, with Manchester United and Liverpool off the table for various reasons, Tottenham is the only other name that comes to mind.

There is, of course, Arsenal, but with The Times reporting that Sterling wants Champions League football, that appears to be a no-go.

However, his potential transfer fee and wages, with the City star reportedly earning £300,000 per week, could make a deal very difficult for Spurs.

Drogba and Chelsea

Didier Drogba, the Chelsea legend, began his career where?

As a result, if Sterling wants to stay in England, staying at City or moving to Chelsea are likely his only two options.

From the Blues' perspective, it is clear that they require someone who can consistently find the back of the net after scoring 23 fewer goals than the Premier League champions last season.

Sterling's track record, with the ex-Liverpool man scoring over 150 goals in his career, suggests he could be the man to do it at Stamford Bridge, which explains why Thomas Tuchel would want him.

Sterling, who has been described as a "world-class" footballer by Chelsea and England legend Frank Lampard, could be a great signing for the former European champions if they can pull it off.
