Four new Volvo heavy-duty truck lines have been introduced by SMT Company Limited, the official distributor of Volvo Construction Equipment and Trucks, with a significant emphasis on the driver's environment, safety, and productivity.

The Volvo FH, FH16, FM, and FMX are the four extra-heavy commercial trucks from the current generation. They are the largest in Volvo's history and have been designed with a significant emphasis on making the new trucks safer, more effective, and more desirable working tools for trained drivers.

The mining, transportation, and haulage industries were represented during the grand launch, which took place on June 16, 2022, at the Mövenpick Ambassador hotel in Accra. The ambassador of Sweden, H.E. Carl Michael Gräns, attended as a special guest. Top SMT Ghana management and employees, including Mr. Alex Dutamby, the Managing Director, were also present.

Mr. Alex Dutamby, Managing Director of SMT Ghana, welcomed the deliveries and emphasised Volvo's enhancements to the features on the new trucks, highlighting their distinct identity in terms of durability, fuel efficiency, a roomy cab, and improved visibility, making them the best trucks in the construction sector.

He said that the trucks were created with Africa's and Ghana's challenging road conditions in mind, and as a result he advised the mining, transportation, and haulage sectors to focus on these trucks for a high return on investment. The greatest and most durable new kind of construction truck in the world, these new vehicles have a distinct Volvo brand character. The new Volvo lineup and a wide array of services from SMT Ghana, in our opinion, make for an unbeatable combination.

In his remarks, Mr. Goran Travancic, Vice President of Africa for Volvo Trucks International, stated that the new trucks being introduced provide a closer look at Volvo's unique truck lineup, further solidifying Volvo's position as the world's leading truck manufacturer and its presence in numerous nations, including Ghana.

Although the population is growing and the climate is changing, he added, Volvo will continue to make more ecologically friendly vehicles with its three guiding principles of quality, safety, and environmental concern.

H.E. Carl Michael Gräns, the Swedish Ambassador and special guest, said that Ghana has been a significant trade partner for Sweden in terms of transport equipment, which is one of Sweden's most popular exports.

Nevertheless, he voiced concern about the rise in road and transportation-related incidents in the nation and asked all interested parties, including the government, to band together and take action to make the transport sector safer.

Mr. Felix Ofosu-Kontoh, Sales Director-SMT Ghana, presented the items with assistance from Mr. Yaw Anim Baffour, Truck Sales Manager-SMT Ghana. They emphasised the following attributes:

Increased Safety

Volvo is committed to enhancing road user safety, and the new truck lineup's safety features show this dedication. With features like adaptive high beam headlights in the Volvo FH and Volvo FH16, safety has been further enhanced. By automatically turning down a portion of the high beam when necessary, the technology increases road user safety for everyone.
