According to a Spanish report, Barcelona will complete the signing of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich next week.
Bundesliga top scorer Lewandowski has been pushing for a move to LaLiga giants and appears to be on the verge of getting his wish, with the German champions reportedly demanding £43 million.
According to Sport, Lewandowski's agent, Pini Zahavi, has met with Bayern, and Barcelona will present an offer that resolves the transfer quickly.
The 33-year-old has stated that his "era at Bayern" is over and expressed his hope that Die Roten will not prevent him from leaving the club, where he has broken legendary striker Gerd Muller's record for most goals in a calendar year and a single season.
The captain of Poland's Spanish suitors are now said to be a step away from signing Lewandowski after a flurry of negotiations that leave little room for compromise.
There were fears that Barcelona's well-documented financial difficulties would prevent them from meeting Bayern's valuation of the reigning FIFA Men's Best Player.
Bayern return to pre-season training on July 12, and Lewandowski, who is under contract until 2023, is expected to join his teammates if he does not leave the club.
Xavi, the manager of Barcelona, sees Lewandowski as the ideal spearhead for his rebuilding efforts ahead of his first full season in charge.
Since joining Barcelona from Arsenal in February, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has led the line for the five-time Champions League winners.
Real Madrid won LaLiga by 13 points over Xavi's second-placed side in 2021/22, scoring 12 more league goals than their nearest rivals.

On Saturday night, reports surfaced linking Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo to a summer move to Chelsea.
On Saturday, reports linked Cristiano Ronaldo to a move to Chelsea, but Manchester United have stated unequivocally that he is 'not for sale.'
The majority of Manchester United fans were on edge on Saturday night after The Athletic revealed that Jorge Mendes floated the idea of Chelsea signing Cristiano Ronaldo during a meeting with new owner Todd Boehly. Of course, the London club can offer the Portuguese star Champions League football next season.
Ronaldo was the club's top scorer last season, with 24 goals, and it appears that, despite some fans' doubts, he will fit Eriksson's system.
It is thus reassuring that the Manchester Evening News understands that United consider Ronaldo to be 'not for sale,' and that they want and fully expect him to be a member of the squad next season. This is welcome news for supporters who were concerned that the club would have to replace their striker this season.
Some fans speculated that Mendes' 'talks' were held to remind the club that they needed to take this rebuild seriously. With pre-season starting on Monday, United have yet to sign a player, which will be a source of concern for Ten Hag.
But, for the time being, United fans are relieved that Ronaldo is staying, and they are hopeful that he will improve under Ten Hag.
